Da Bears will WIN the 'Bowl

Okay, here's a Superbowl Prediction - Why? Because screw Peyton Manning. Just remember, Peyton, they're not saying "Boo," they're saying "Moooooov... "

No wait, check that, they are saying "Boo."

So this is a Super Bowl update to my post below in which I correctly predicted that the Bears would beat the Saints - I believe I was the only one in the country who thought that by the way. Well, me and Barack Obama. So, I was wrong in my Pats pick, but that's just because I'm a Homer.

-----------------------------------------------------------

SuperfansI haven't heard one person pick the Bears this week. Not one. None of the ESPN experts or NFL peeps and certainly nobody around here. Everybody likes the 'Aints.

Well, I'm going bold and busting the chain. You heard it here first. The Bears will win!

It's going to be a throwback Superbowl to 1985 - Bears-Pats (with the Pats winning this time, of course).

I don't know how they're going to do it - their defense is decimated, they can't stop the N.O. runners and their offense can't last in a shootout either, but somehow, miraculously, the Bears will win this game. I think maybe a Devin Hester special teams play will be a big factor.

And as far as everyone rooting for the Colts? - if you've read Michael Holley's book on Bill Belichick and you've read Tony Dungy's comments this week about the Colts and Bears, well that's all you need to know to understand why the Patriots will win this weekend.

Bears 38 - Saints 30
Patriots 31 - Colts 27

Lights Out !!!

Ok, who thinks it's time for LT and the Chargers to stop whining? Talk about no class! No class is being a sore loser in defeat.

stem cellThere it is. Look, I loved LaDanian Tomlinson all season as he led my fantasy team to the best record in the league (only to fall short in the playoffs).

But what can you say besides... SOUR GRAPES and SORE LOSER!

Classless? LT, your "class" took a hit by whining about something stupid after your team lost. Nobody wants to hear it and you just come across as a sore loser.

Since when is it wrong to celebrate on the field after a big playoff win?? Who cares? They were excited. And as far as mocking Shawn Merriman's stupid "lights out" dance... again - Who Cares?

You think that's the first time someone's mocked Merriman's dance or anyone else's token dance? It's not. If for some ridiculous reason you don't want people "mocking" your celebratory dance, then don't do the stupid "it's all about me, not the team" dance in the first place. Whether it's the "Dirty Bird" or the "Jump Shot" or whatever other stupid celebration dance you can find in NFL history... they've all been mocked by opposing teams.

So, LT, Merriman, Rivers, and any other San Diego fans or players who are whining about this, it's time to just shut up and stop being sore losers. That's the only way to restore your class.

Stem Cell Research is Inevitable...

Embryonic Stem Cell research is certainly a hotly debated topic. The newly Democratic House of Representatives just passed a bill to allow embryonic stem cell research, but the White House vows to once again veto the bill. Here is the link to the story if you want more info:

Story: House Passes Embryonic Stem Cell Bill

stem cellBut let me try to break it down in simple terms for you...

We are talking about using frozen embryos that have been donated to fertility clinics for in vitro fertilization.

Doctors, Scientists, and supporters of this bill say that these are the most promising stem cells for research that could lead to cures for hundreds of diseases.

People who oppose this bill (most republicans) claim that it is similar to abortion and constitutes destroying a human life.

Well... here is the problem I have with that. First of all, I do not believe it is destroying a human life. But let's not get into a moral debate here.

The real issue is... THESE EMBRYOS ARE GETTING TRASHED ANYWAY!!

So opponents are hypocritical because by not passing or vetoing this bill, you are allowing clinics to continue to just trash these unused embryos! So instead of just destroying them and throwing them out, why not use them for research?? It is ridiculous. I guarantee you every single (republican) opponent of this bill would do a complete 180 if they were stricken with parkinson's or their spouse was stricken with alzheimer's. Think about it.

Okay, that's my opinion. Feel free to comment if you like...

No real surprises...

Well, I guess the only real surprise this weekend was how the Colts won. I picked them to win the game, but thought it would be because Peyton Manning would go wild and the Chiefs would have to abandon the run to early and fall short in a track meet. Well, that's not exactly how it went down. The chiefs D actually played well. Who would have thought that the Peyton could throw 3 picks and the Colts could still win? Well, who would have thought the Colts Horrid Run D would stuff Larry Johnson?

Hmmph... Well Tiki sort of got his but the Giants D let him down at the end of the game. Oh well. He's retiring b/c he can't stand Tom Coughlin - make no mistake about it.

Pats Pats Pats Pats!! The Patriots are coming to San Diego - I would be worried if I were a Chargers fan. I think the Chargers will win this game. BUT, if they're not very sharp, the Pats are the team that could take advantage of that. I think these are the 2 best teams left in the playoffs and the winner of this game will go on to win the Superbowl.

My predictions for this weekend:

Chargers 27 Patriots 24
Colts 20 Ravens 19
Bears 34 Seahawks 20
Saints 31 Eagles 17

A New Twist on the NFL Playoffs

Ok, so here's what I'll say about the playoffs.

They start this weekend, but the first round will probably be over by the time most of you read this. So let's see if these predictions come true:

Patriots 23 - Jets 10
Giants 31 - Eagles 29
Colts 45 - Chiefs 21
Seahawks 20 - Cowboys 17

Okay, and moving forward, let's start a string of predicting the biggest headline of the week. I'll start with this weekend:

"Barber puts team on back, extends career another week."

Okay, give it a shot and we'll continue throughout the playoffs...
