Robbed by Baggage Screeners?
Now, having said that, it is clear that an unfortunate black cloud has emerged because of the changes. Now that baggage screeners are permitted (and often required) to open up your checked baggage and look through it, it has created a problem in the industry - THEFT.
This happened to my wife and I on our honeymoon. We arrived in St. Lucia and our digital camera was missing from my wife's suitcase. It was obvious that it had been gone through and there was nothing we could do about it. I was pissed! The only consolation we could take in it was that it happened on the way THERE and not on the way home, so we had no pictures on the camera yet. At least we were able to buy disposable cameras when we were there and still take some (mediocre) pics on our honeymoon.
This screening/searching takes place after your bags are taken from you and so the passengers aren't there to observe. It's like some of these employees felt like they've been given a green light to steal whatever they want.
And because of the airlines' "policies" that they are not responsible for any specific items in your luggage, there is no way to prove anything or hold anyone responsible.
Has this happened to you??
What do you think can be done to fix this problem??
